Year Book 2018

August 31, 2018 in DeskTop Publishing by Staff

Year 9′s major project in the ICT lab is to create a Year Book. The social activity revolves around students enacting the roles they would genuinely play if they worked for a publishing house. After creating their personal profile page, each student is given a role within a team, such as sub-editor, journalist, photographer or designer. They are then tasked with creating layouts using the skills they have developed with their previous projects.
The objective of these jpg’s is to illustrate how social activities can be used as an enhanced learning tool. The Year Book project is an amalgamation of Vygotskian thought and Educational Progressivism as propagated by the American philosopher John Dewey.
It illustrates how immersing students in real life scenarios can achieve outstanding results.
All text is produced by the students and all art work is original and created in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
The gallery below is a small selection of pages from the Year Book.
