Modern Slavery by Roberto 7a

Modern Slavery in the World
By: Roberto Contri Justo
On July 24th, 2013, my class interviewed an anti-slavery expert, Michaela Alfred-Kamara.
We discussed many topics about modern slavery, so I won´t be able to choose all. I have selected three topics, which are, how to stop modern slavery, the NGO tasks and responsibilities and the situation in Brazil.
The first topic was Rafael Pereira de Almeida´s question. She answered that she has support from other governments to help people. We know that the government needs to help people. Her NGO checks the government to see what they are doing to stop modern slavery. She didn’t say what they do to the government when the procedure is not being followed.
The second topic was a question asked by Raphael Bell, to see what actions are taken when somebody violates the rules of human rights. Michaela said that they don´t arrest a person who does this nonsense, the government does that. The anti-slavery NGO participates, but not arresting the criminals, instead they help the victims.
The third and the last question was asked by Vinicius Grynszpan. She answered that cases of slavery exist around the whole world, and that there are cases in Brazil. For example, in Brazil, her last case was in São Paulo. Modern Slavery is a serious topic, and everybody should help and be a part of this NGO to make the world a better place.
