Feature Article

The first written genre to be analyzed and produced in our Language classes as part of the Stance Teen Webzine was the feature article. As a continuation to year seven’s research on the effects of scents in our memory, students found a hook to writing about their findings and the connection to their interviews, conducted outside the classroom in both Portuguese and English languages. Overall, the underlying objective was not just to inform, but also to incite further reflection and, whenever possible, generate new ideas.  Use the search box to find titles or a particular student’s work.  In order to check out all the feature articles posted in each class, click on one or more of the following links: http://stanceblog.com.br/ict/webzine2015/category/feature-articles/

Advice Column

One of the genres which students examined and subsequently produced in Language classes is the advice column.  Based on various in-class discussions and handouts, we focused on a number of topics that deal with teen issues while also being related to the theme of relationships.  It should be mentioned, moreover, that the practice of writing advice columns was done via letters submitted anonymously by Year 9 students, thus, reflecting real teen concerns. http://stanceblog.com.br/ict/webzine2015/category/advice-columns/
