Modern Slavery around the Worl

Nowadays, cases of Modern Slavery are becoming very common around the world, people being forced to prostitution, to sew and other several factors. According to Michaela Alfred-Kamara, an expert on Modern Slavery, we can stop modern slavery by not buying clothes from industries that practice modern slavery. Slaves don´t work in good conditions, for example, they sleep on the floor and eat bad food, and when they try to escape, they are beaten and they are chained and starve. They work 18 hours a day although the limit is 8 per day.

Owners can traffic people because they offer a lot of money and when the slaves arrive at the place, they discover that they have been trafficked. When they receive this piece of news, they get to be rebellious and try to escape, and they suffer a lot. All labour laws are violated, they don´t pay, they don´t work in good conditions.

Slavery was prohibited here in Brazil in 1888. They have already discovered 24 millions of people that have been trafficked.

Michaela works in an N. G.O (non-governmental organization). This ‘organization’ fights against modern slavery around the world without the governments’ help.
