Advice Column by Gabriel P.

Dear Year 7 Student,

I’ve been going through a really hard phase of my life: I have to decide to which high school I am going next year. Most of my friends are going to the same school and my parents want me to go to a high school nobody from my class is going to next year. What should I do?

Dear Year 9 Student,

First I wanted to say that this problem you have is very common and in my opinion, very simple to be solved.

If many friends are going to the same school and they are happy with the school they are going to, it will be very difficult to convince them to go to the school your parents want you to go.

As I said above, it would be very difficult to convince your friends, because it won’t work. Try to convince your parents by searching and showing them how the school you would like to go to can be better for you than the one your parents want you to go to.

If the tips above don’t help you and you go to a school you don’t want, try to keep calm and try to make new friends there. Hope you can solve your problem.

Sincerely,

Gabriel P.
