Advice Column by Valentine (7A)

Dear Year 7 Student,

Well, I started primary 7 (I’m in Scotland so we call it primary instead of grade) and we have this thing where everyone in primary 7 gets a buddy, which means that we each look after one of the new kids from primary 1 and it is really good fun. I’m okay with kids but I want to know how to be a good buddy because they’re all five years of age and I have a very bad temper and I don’t want to lose it and scare them away.

Dear Kirsty,

How cool! A new experience for you, will be very nice having the opportunity to have a buddy. Well Kirsty, you should observe how is he or she like, and after that only do what your buddy would like, and when you talk to him or her, be more delicate and relax, because over pressure can scare him, be calm, everything will be alright, talk about interesting things which are fun and not so complex. Is not so difficult do those things, and with time, Kirsty, you will get used to this, and both will be laughing all year long.

Hope it helps,

Valentine
